Here are my picks for the categories that I gave a shit about for the 2008 Oscars:
Best Picture - No Country for Old Men
Best Actor - Daniel Day Lewis
Best Director - The Coen brothers
Best Supporting Actor - Javier Bardem
Best Actress - Ellen Page
Best Supporting Actress - Amy Ryan
Best Cinematography - The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
Best Editing - The Bourne Ultimatum
Best Song - "Falling Slowly" from Once
Best Adapted Screenplay - No Country for Old Men
Best Original Screenplay - Juno
Here are the categories that I picked correctly:
Best Picture
Best Director
Best Actor
Best Supporting Actor
Best Editing
Best Song
Best Adapted Screenplay
Best original Screenplay
8/11
Overall, I did well. I told my girlfriend that if Daniel Day Lewis didn't win best actor, murders would be committed by my hands. My main motive for Daniel Day Lewis to win, other than There Will Be Blood was actually good, is I feel he should have won the oscar for Gangs of New York but didn't. As far as the categories I lost, I picked Ellen Page for best actress just because I loved her in that movie and I don't remember the roles of the other nominees, I picked Amy Ryan for best supporting actress because I wanted Gone Baby Gone to win at least one award, and for best cinematography, I picked the Assassination of Jesse James just because I thought it was better than the other nominees. The best moment of the night was the live performance of Falling Slowly. Can't wait for next year!
